Top Twenty-Five Quotes On God And Christianity

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Jerry Richard Boone Do you love a good quote? Are you a Christian? Yes? Yes? Then I guarantee you will love the Top Twenty Quotes on God and Christianity! Okay, I admit, I did sneak in one of my own. See if you can find it. Please note: These quotations are listed apathetically by author, not in any perceived order of importance. “Christ is not valued at all unless He is valued above all.” Saint Augustine (354-430) Christian church father, philosopher, bishop “Who among us is willing to die to perpetuate a hoax? A logical assumption is that the martyrs: Stephen, James, Peter, and Paul died firmly convinced they were telling us the truth about Jesus and his resurrection. A blind faith? No, a reasoned faith. For Christianity was established by credible eyewitnesses willing to die for their testimony.” Jerry Boone (1947- ) American author “God bears with the wicked, but not forever.” Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616) Spanish Writer “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.” G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936) English author “Nature is but a name for an effect, whose cause is God.” William Cowper (1731-1800) English poet “How many observe Christ’s birthday! How few, his precepts! O! ’tis easier to keep holidays than commandments.” Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) American inventor, publisher, statesman “Toward what should we aim if not toward God?” Andre Gide (1869-1951) French writer “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both the soul and the body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28) Jesus Christ (c. 6 B.C.- c. A.D. 30) The Messiah, the Son of God “A man with God is always in the majority.” John Knox (1505-1572) Scottish religious reformer, founder of Scottish Presbyterianism “Now I define Faith as the power of continuing to believe what we once honestly thought to be true until cogent reasons for honestly changing our minds are brought before us.” Christian Reflections (1941) C. S. [Clive Staples] Lewis English author and Christian Apologist “One of the great difficulties is to keep before the audience’s mind the question of Truth. They always think you are recommending Christianity not because it is ‘true’ but because it is ‘good’. One must keep on pointing out that Christianity is a statement which, if false, is of no importance, and if it is true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.” God in the Dock (1946) C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) “Here is a door, behind which, according to some people, the secret of the universe is hiding. Either that is true, or it isn’t. And if it isn’t, then what that door really conceals is simply the greatest fraud, the most colossal ’sell’ on record. Isn’t it obviously the job of every man (that is a man and not a rabbit) to try to find out which, and then devote his full energies to serving this tremendous secret or to exposing and destroying this giant humbug?” God in the Dock (1946) C.S. Lewis “A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You can shut him up for a fool; you can spit at him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.” Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis “We may not be able to get certainty, but we can get probability, and half a loaf is better than no bread.” Christian Reflections C. S. Lewis “The central Christian belief is that Christ’s death has somehow put us right with God and given us a fresh start.” Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis “The perfect church service would be the one we were almost unaware of; our attention would have been on God. But every novelty prevents this. It fixes our attention on the service itself; and thinking about worship is a different thing than worshiping … ‘Tis mad idolatry that makes the service greater than the god.” C.S. Lewis “Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God because he said so. The other evidence about him has convinced them he was neither a lunatic nor a quack.” Christian Reflections C.S. Lewis “When you try to explain the Christian doctrine as it is really held by an instructed adult, they will complain that you are making their heads turn round and that it is all too complicated and that if there really were a God they are sure that He would have made ‘religion’ simple, . . . as if ‘religion’ were something God invented, and not His statement to us of certain quite unalterable facts about His own nature. Besides being complicated, reality, in my experience, is usually odd. It is not neat, not obvious, not what you expect . . . . Reality, in fact, is usually something you could not have guessed. That is one of the reasons I believe in Christianity.” Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis “It is my deepest conviction that New Testament Christianity — I mean undenominationalized Christianity — what you read in your New Testament — unpolluted with centuries of human tradition, and untainted with the newest novelties and fads, is the best thing that ever happened to the human race, and that’s our message.” Mack Lyon American Evangelist “The heart of Christianity is that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised from death the third day according to the Scriptures.” Mack Lyon “Christianity is a demanding and serious religion. When it is delivered as easy and amusing, it’s another kind of religion altogether. It’s almost become a truism in preaching — avoid doctrine, but by all means be amusing and entertaining — and make it short. It’s a mistake to substitute show for substance in the pulpit or on TV.” Mack Lyon “Christianity, the kind of teaching and faith and worship and service that you read about in your own New Testament, isn’t a hype religion that keeps you pumped up by the momentary excitement of frequent hand-clapping, foot stomping, hallelujah pep rallies. But it will sustain you in sickness and suffering and recessions and reversals, and at the grave side of a loved one. It gives stability and meaning to your life. It’s the presence of God.” Mack Lyon “When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Savior. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons.” John Newton (1725 -1807) Sailor, English Clergyman and Songwriter, best known for the hymn, “Amazing Grace” “Jesus Christ our Lord was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead.” Romans 1:4) Apostle Paul “Without God, there is no virtue, because there’s no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we’re mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what the senses perceive. Without God, there is a coarsening of the society. And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under. If I could just make a personal statement of my own — in these 3 1/2 years I have understood and known better than ever before the words of Lincoln, when he said that he would be the greatest fool on this footstool called Earth if he ever thought that for one moment he could perform the duties of that office without help from One who is stronger than all.” Ronald Wilson Reagan (1911-2004) August 23, 1984, address at an ecumenical prayer breakfast, Reunion Arena, Dallas, Texas If I haven’t listed your favorite God and Christianity quote, email it to me and I’ll consider it for a future article. No negative quotes, please! I believe you eventually become whatever you allow your mind to think about. If you will allow me one more “self quote”: “Whatever is constantly on your mind is what you become. To put it another way, you are what you think. Want to become a saint? Then read, study, and take to heart — the New Testament. Want to become a moral degenerate? Then read, study, and take to heart — pornography. We can’t help it. That’s the way we are made. Whoever we associate with, whatever we read, whatever we watch on television, whatever we allow our minds to dwell on, becomes, in time, our character and our destiny.” Jerry Boone, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, United States webmaster@merechristianity.us Mr. Boone is a sailor, author, and webmaster of http://merechristianity.us His works include: Mere Christianity.us and SAFETY LINE - EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN, an apologetic study published 1998. Types of Marriage Certificates Availiable (Public Versus Confidential)

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By John Kunkle In California where I live, there are different types of marriage certificates. There is the usual public marriage certificate, where your marriage is a part of the public record. In California, they also have a Confidential Marriage Certificate. The confidential marriage certificate is not part of the public record. This law probably originated because of all the rotisserie marriages between Hollywood movie stars that they wanted to keep confidential, if such a thing is possible in Hollywood. Way back, someone influential probably sponsored a state legislator in passing that legislation. In California, you cannot get a copy of a confidential marriage license without both marriage partners applying for a certified copy in person at the county clerks office together at the same time. This is one alternative if you are afraid of having Aunt Martha find out that you married that Russian girl. Some men I know who have married Russian wives have done so under confidential marriages. I guess they did this in case that the marriage didnt work out, there would be no public record of it. However, a confidential marriage does not relieve you of any legal responsibilities under the marriage laws of your state. Even if you are not legally married, if you hold yourself out as married, what is commonly referred to as a common law marriage, you may be considered married under the law. I’m not an attorney and I don’t play one on TV. Im not giving any legal advice and I dont want to offer any, however, I want you to know that there is the possibility of keeping your marriage confidential legally if you so desire. John has been successfully married to a Belarussian wife for over five years. He has traveled extensively through Russia and other CIS countries. He will tell you why you should consider Russian women, how to meet them, how to bring your special woman home, and how to survive married life. http://www.russian-luv.com/certificates.html Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Kunkle http://EzineArticles.com/?Types-of-Marriage-Certificates-Availiable-(Public-Versus-Confidential)&id=341236 online got pharmacy about adapex through imitrex with pharmacy take nolvadex our no been prescription like mexico our buy any discount much viagra come at got internet both canadian did pharmacy between now the

How To Lose Fat

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Brian Kaye Yes I know its beach season and youre still caring around some extra unwanted weight. Fat is unwanted by many and can be such a pain to get rid of. But there is no need to worry I have some answers that could help you with losing fat. When losing fat you want to start off with setting a goal for yourself. When setting this goal you want to keep it realistic. If your one hundred pounds overweight then dont set a goal to lose one hundred pounds in six weeks that is just unrealistic. Losing fat is going to take a lot of discipline and time. Your goal should be to lose at least 1-2 pounds per week. Try to make your first real goal to lose between five and ten pounds in one month. The next step is diet. Now I know a lot of people run when they here the word diet but dont be scared a diet is simply what you eat. Not all diets consist of just salads, water, bread, and crackers. Matter of fact when youre dieting to lose weight you can still eat a lot of the foods you enjoy. The only kinds of foods you want to watch out for is foods really high in sugar, saturated fat, and trans fat. This would include doughnuts, cookies, cake, ice cream, candy, pizza, fried foods, and any kind of fast foods. Although you dont want to avoid sugar completely you should stay away from a diet high in sugar. The sugar you want to be getting in your diet should be from fresh fruits and all natural juices. Now that we got sugar and fat out of the way the next thing in your diet is your carbohydrates. Dont even begin to think that carbohydrates are bad for you. In fact your body requires carbohydrates just as much as water, protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals. Carbohydrates are essential to staying healthy and losing weight or gaining muscle. You should get your carbohydrates from pastas, cereals, breads, fruits, and vegetables. You want to keep your scale ratio of carbohydrates, protein, and fat to a 50-35-15. Now that we have that down we can talk about our last main nutrient and that is protein. Protein is the building block for your bodys growth. You should get your protein from eggs, chicken, peanuts, milk, and other dairy products. You can steak too but only on occasion because your goal is to lose weight not gain it. The next step in achieving your goal is to start exercising. Start a basic training program and work out about 3-4 times a week to keep active. Cardiovascular and aerobic activities such as swimming, running, walking, jump rope, and any kind of sport is also very essential to losing fat. You want to do these about 3-4 times a week as well to keep active and healthy. Once you have started eating right and working out then you will definitely start to notice that your weight loose goal is very possible. Our last step in losing weight is to sleep. Sleep is a must that your body needs. Your body grows and repairs itself at night so get enough sleep so you can start seeing your results right away. I would recommend 7-9 hours of sleep every night. If you dont sleep enough every night then you will stress your body and that could possibly keep you from losing weight. Also do not forget to keep track of your weight. You can record your weight in a training log that you should update every week. This is some of the best advice I could give you on losing weight. It is simple and not that hard to do it. You simply just need to discipline yourself and stay consistent with what you are doing. If you follow everything I have said here then there should be no reason for you not to lose some fat and begin to look healthy. Loan Officer Websites: Your Marketing Hub to Magnetize Realtors

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Jeffrey Nelson Too many loan officer websites look like congested intersections, information running every which way. Fancy gadgets, like calculators, online application submission forms and loan programs filled with jargon that customers dont understand. You cant tell the difference from one loan officer web site to the next. Take any two sites and swap logos with each one. Still, you cant tell any difference between them. Its no wonder real estate agents get flustered trying to glean something from your loan office website, when its designed to service customers. The Internet has become a safe haven for Agents. Protected from confrontation and reliable for first impressions. Agents have become more net-savvy quickly to keep up with the onslaught of available information to homeowners considering the sale of their homes. Yet, loan officers neglect to capitalize on the increasing searches done by Agents, anxious to secure a new preferred mortgage partner. Your Marketing Hub Winning more agent-referred business begins with marketing. And good marketing includes a website as your hub. But just not any loan officer website - an agent-focused website. Its specifically designed for real estate agents to learn about you, what you stand for and how you conduct business. An agent-focused website serves as your hub that all other marketing strategies are executed. It can connect all your marketing efforts geared toward Agents. Your objective is for Agents to visit your site and learn about your services, to be educated on how you conduct business and to shape their perception of you as an expert. It has many added benefits: - Instant Visibility The Internet gives you credibility and makes you appear professional and established. - Develops Familiarity Skeptical Agents can, from reading your site, become more comfortable. - Shortens the Cycle - If an Agent can learn about you more quickly, when you meet theyre already comfortable, and relationships materialize faster. - Marketing Collateral - It helps your agent-clients refer other Agents to you more easily. It gives other Agents a place to learn about you before they call. Construction An agent-focused website is an interactive brochure. You can communicate more information in a site than you can on paper. That means it can save you time and money. Too often, loan officers eagerly take Agents out to lunch before they really know if its an investment or an expense. It isnt until after the cost of a few lunches and several phone call attempts that they discover the Agent isnt serious about a relationship with them. Your site should be the first step in your marketing, by directing Agents to it first, you can delineate between serious and curious Agents. Design Its about simplicity. This means you dont need a large bank account to fund it. In fact, each page of your site follows suit. The simpler you make it, the more theyll visit and read other pages. Think of each page design like that of a newspapers leading article. You have a bold, attention-grabbing headline, a sub heading, the body and a graphic visually communicating the essence of the article. Content Your site is a chance to state for the record; who you are, who you work with, how you conduct business, your guiding beliefs, and how youre different. Your content acts as a resource to inform and educate. Home Page - This is where you communicate precisely who you are, what you stand for and how youre different, so the visitor can know instantly if your services are well-matched for them. Who You Work With Page - This page is for those who think they need your services, but arent sure. It describes in problem-based scenarios, which Agents relate to best. How You Work Page - This page tells the visitor what it might be like to work with you. Here you can educate them about your guiding beliefs and values, you can describe the type of results they can expect, or you can describe your uniqueness. Case Studies Page - If you want to cement their perception of you as an expert, back up your claims with actual client case studies. Testimonials Page - Although these dont replace case studies, it can demonstrate that others were happy using your services. Articles Archive - The mark of an expert is that theyve written something on their subject matter. About You Page - Its the equivalent of your resume, but connects on an emotional and personal level. About Your Team Page This page is to introduce your internal team. Agents know many hands are involved in each transaction and you can comfort them by showing that theres more to your team than just you. Additional Resources Page - This is an extension of your internal team. Strategic alliances can prove to be valuable to an Agent. Contact Us Page - This is where you tell visitors how to contact you and how you begin working with clients. Sign Up Form - If someone visits your site, reads your content and decides they like you, you want to capture that visitors email address before they leave your site. Most Wanted Response To get an Agent to take action you have to actively engage them into thinking about how your service can help solve their problems. The better you can do that, the more likely youll get your most wanted response (MWR). Follow these four steps to design your MWR: - Be personable and personalized. Write informally as if you were having a conversation. - Address their problems and needs. An Agent will take action the more they can relate to you. The better you describe their problems the more they can see that you understand. - Give them a sense of hope. Describe the benefits theyll enjoy once their problem is fixed. - Tell them what they need to do to enjoy those benefits. An agent-focused website is your interactive brochure for magnetizing more agent-referred business, whether it come to you as free traffic delivered by Search Engines or by prospects directed from your offline promotions, i.e. postcards, flyers, newsletters, etc., as the first step in your marketing process. Fragrant Spring-Blooming Bulb Collection

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By Alan Summers This week we have assembled a collection of fragrant spring blooming flower bulbs. We have chosen those that we believe to be the most fragrant of all. It happens that many are heirloom varieties. Ideal for planting in small clusters in little nooks throughout the garden. Several of the varieties are good for forcing indoors also. Grape Hyacinth ‘Golden Fragrance’ A new grape hyacinth with a gentle sweet fruity perfume, Muscari macrocarpum ‘Golden Fragrance’ blooms in April with unusual spikes of soft yellow that emerge from purple buds. The only grape hyacinth with yellow blossoms! Plant in full sun or very light shade. Height is 6 inches. Tulip ‘General De Wet’ The most fragrant tulip of all. A single early tulip that dates back about 100 years, it originated as a sport of Prince of Austria. The fiery orange blooms stipled with scarlet come in April. ‘General De Wet’ grows 12-14 inches tall. Plant in full sun. Of all the tulips, it is unsurpassed for forcing. Narcissus jonquilla ‘Simplex’ The true original jonquil that has been grown since the mid 1700s. It blooms in late April with several small golden yellow side-facing flowers with small cups. They are sweetly fragrant and are borne on sturdy 10 inch stems. The foliage is slender and reed-like. Jonquilla ‘Simplex’ naturalizes into nice little colonies. All narcissus are virtually deer proof. Narcissus triandrus ‘Thalia’ ‘Thalia’ has pure white blooms borne in gently nodding clusters of 2-3 per stem. An heirloom variety dating back to 1916, ‘Thalia’ grows about 12 inches tall and blooms in very late April to early May. ‘Thalia’ is known for its fragrance and prefers a moist semi-shaded location where it will naturalize splendidly. Native to Spain and Portugal. Multiple Flowered Narcissus ‘Geranium’ ‘Geranium’ is one of my favorite daffodils because it is amongst the last to bloom with a nice display of long-lasting blooms borne 3-5 per strong stem. It is extremely fragrant and naturalizes well in full sun to very light shade. Excellent for forcing. A true heirloom, it has been grown for about 80 years. It grows to 16 inches tall. Hyacinth ‘Blue Jacket’ Hyacinths are known to be the most fragrant of the spring blooming bulbs. Many people consider ‘Blue Jacket’ to be the most fragrant of all the hyacinths. They can be forced indoors or can be planted in masses out doors. We particularly like ‘Blue Jacket’ for its strong sturdy stems and its densely filled tubular spikes that are filled with florets right to the top. The flowers are particularly long lasting. They grow to be 10 inches tall. Hyacinth ‘Woodstock’ ‘Woodstock’ combines delicious fragrance with fine spikes of rich plum purple. Hyacinths naturalize in well drained soil in full sun and they are deer resistant. Height 10 inches tall. Click Here to see these and more at Carroll Gardens. Close Kept Secrets to Weight Loss Lesson #44

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Tami Close We are definitely meant for greatness, arent we? We have the ability to transcend any thoughts we choose to experience greatness..its actually a choice. Do we choose to be happy or not–live in lower vibration (unhappiness) or higher vibration (happiness)? When we believe that things are not going well, then the lower vibration (our EGO) of thought kicks in: Oh, its time to be scared. Nothing good will come to you. Then we choose to be unhappy because of our circumstances. We actually need to shift our thoughts when we experience our EGO talking to us. We need to do something that gets us to realign our thinking to be connected to God, not our EGO. The intention of these newsletters is to help you with specific tools to clean your connection to God. These same tools are used in my weight loss program and Im excited to share one of them with you.belly laughing. Heres some information on laughing. There is an entire industry built around laughter - and not just comedians either! There is a hybrid branch of psychology called “laughter therapy”, a new exercise movement called Laughtercising, social laughter clubs,”Laughing rooms” in high-tech workplaces, Laughter workshops, LaughterInstitutes, even a World Laughter Tour! Look at this accomplishment. Katie Namrevo was a “stress eater” who had tried everything with no permanent success. One day after watching a TV program on laughtertherapy, she decided to try laughing instead. Giving a new meaning to thephrase “belly laugh,” Namrevo says she found that by laughing as often as 10times a day, she no longer craved food. She began losing weight, she gainedmore energy and a found desire to exercise. She eventually lost 35 pounds. WOW! Okay, ready to belly laugh. Take 30 seconds right nowwherever you are and laugh. Drop down on the floor uncontrollably and let go. Even if youre at work, do it and see how contagious it is. You will cause an uncontrollable wave of laughter. Feels great, doesnt it? One caution though: Accidents can occur as a result of belly laughing. Always have a towel or change of clothing close by. My intentions are to help you and I wont stop until I succeed in helping as many people as I can. Why am I unstoppable? Because I made a commitment to God that I would do His work and deliver His message, and I intend to honor that commitment. With this said, I know my weight loss program has long term value in that the results are felt in all aspects of your life with improved relationships with yourself, your significant other, your family, your friends, your co-workers.
